Discs fly for pediatric cancer research

Rebelution Drummer Wesley Finley and Key for a Cure Foundation Collaborate on Two Disc Golf Discs to Raise Funds for Pediatric Cancer Research

Drummer Wes Finley of the popular Grammy-nominated reggae-rock band Rebelution is donating substantial proceeds from two new celebrity edition disc golf discs from Innova Disc Golf, one of the top producers of disc golf products, to the Monterey-based Key for a Cure Foundation, which is committed to funding innovative pediatric cancer research.

One of the discs is a “driver” or Corvette (Champion Color Glow Corvette Wes Finley Collab Edition) and the other a “putter” or Aviar (Star Aviar Wes Finley Collab Edition), and will primarily be sold through Innova’s website,

“Key for a Cure is changing the battleground for children with cancer and it is these very acts that enable us to do so,” said Aimee Grijalva in responding to Finley’s generous act of philanthropy. “Thank you, Wes, for helping keep Matthew’s spirit alive, that will always mean the world to me, but also for believing in this mission.”

Rebelution, which was founded 16 years ago in Isla Vista, California, is one of the most popular reggae-rock bands in the world, releasing several chart-topping albums, including the #1 reggae album of the year in 2014, snagging a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2017, and headlining sell-out shows everywhere from Red Rocks to The Greek Theatre, along with festival slots at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Monterey’s own Cali Roots Festival, where they are one of the most in-demand bands playing the hugely popular three-day event. They return to headline Cali Roots in 2022.
